New inspiration

Where has this week gone...tomorrow will be friday and thats another week closer to christmas. This weeks jobs have been photographing the world smallest components - not my ideal of fun it's very challenging. But, I'm loving the work that i'm doing of late. Exhibiton panels and brochures, all being knocked out with only minor changes! which makes me very happy that I'm doing something right. I'm being inspired by so many things in the world. From adverts in my snowboarding mags to cool artwork on packaging - I'm feeling very happy with life even though every outlet of media is dragging things down with the recession. Keep smiling i say - and keep doing the things you love.

or maybe its because I've grown a beard? maybe that's it...

Vw meet, north norfolk

The weekend always seems to go so quickly and this one was no different. This saturday myself, my brother and my dad headed to wimpole hall. A great place for a wonder, even better when you have national trust membership.

Wimpole Hall was having a WWII weekend, everyone dressed up in the uniforms and day-to-day wear of the 1940s. With tents pitchup all over the place with WWII rifles, machine guns and sniper rifles. All the weapons/gear/transport that kids see and play in COD3 console games. I was wondering around wishing i was a young boy again that used to dress up in army gear and disappear into the orchard for hours making bases and pretending to be in the army. If we had something like this when we were kids, that would have been amazing. Wondering around the paths and coming across a ditch with netting and soldiers brewing up with an old machine gun laid out, ready for when the germans attacked. You really felt that you were walking into the past. The highlight for me was the fly past of the lancaster bomber, it was low. I mean it was really low, banking round and round - the sound of the engines just sending goosebumps all over. These would have been all over east anglia in the 1940s. As many where stationed here, even at wimpole hall the south path leading up to the house was used as a landing strip. They would service the planes with the use of the woodland on both sides being used for cover while they were worked on. Hidden by the trees and out of sight from german bombers heading to cambridge. Other areas of the hall were used for ammo storage and US medical tents. All throughout the war it was still used as a farm. Very enjoyable.

More photos to follow, when my dad downloads them. Some vintage cars for you the far left is an old ford austin (i think) anyway a family member has one. We used to go to the pub in it, very some and you indicated with your arms. very cool.

Today was even better! a trip out in the van to north norfolk for a VW meet from all round the area. Its great to meet up with them, have a good chat, a brew and drive around the old RAF base taking photos. The light today was brilliant - and like a true professional photographer (not) my SLR camera ran out of juice the second shot i fired. So, all these were taken on sockladies phone!

I just keep looking at the photos thinking 'why didnt i charge it up!!' the light was spot on.

Not many turned up this time. A few from downham market, kings lynn and that was about it. It was still a good laugh. Even took the carve board (longboard skateboard) out for a past along the runway.
But, now its sunday evening and i better go get into bed...school tomorrow.

enjoy the photos....

Howdy

First post of my new blog, its been a long week. Been a busy week designing twit backgrounds and email footers. The computer at work has been struggling bad with a few jobs that have been 6m in size. Stresses me out that i cant do anything, but wait for the blue bar to move across. Sitting there watching it thinking 'hurry up!' i have 20 other jobs that are just as important. I wonder if i could sneak my G5 in from home. Looking forward to the day when i get a new mac - fingers crossed its soon. I've many more 6m and 9m banners to design and create.

This weekend is a busy one - taking my dad to Wimpole Hall for a WWII day. Showing what went on at the hall in wartime. Weather looks good for the weekend as well so the VW meet that myself, my wife and my brother are all attending in our van should be a great. Photos to follow soon.

heres to the weekends...blues skys, september lighting and cruising in the camper.
